THE EVOLUTION CONTROL COMMITTEE
CHROMELODEON

THE EVOLUTION CONTROL COMMITTEE
For nearly 20 years, The Evolution Control Committee has beencombining new technology with old-fashioned showmanship to produce internationally acclaimed performances. Long before the sampler and computers made it easy, The ECC was infringing copyright laws the hard way. The ECC performs with custom-made equipment and videos to give the audience a truly original show. As for the music, in the world of The ECC Public Enemy duke it out with Herb Alpert while Dan Rather is the new frontman for AC/DC. It's fun without being comedy, sample-based without being techno, and brainy without being arty. Their longstanding cult following of both live and recorded material runs deep in countless areas from indie to activism.

CHROMELODEON
Philadelphia's own 8 member video-game inspired group. Describedwidely as "a cross between Godspeed You Black Emperor and Mr. Bunglein a video game writing contest" (Clamor Magazine #26), this group of shadowy figures have earned amazingly diverse reception on an exponential level. Within the last two years, they have toured the nation with their intense epics, and played sold out shows at the Knitting Factory NYC as well as with WESLEY WILLIS, THE BOUNCING SOULS, and SKELETON KEY. They will be traveling in support of two new albums and possible performances, one of which including the NINJA GAIDEN 2 audio/visual live soundtrack (to the original Nintendo game), already spreading in underground circles across the country.

LOST FILM FEST is a laugh-a-riot event with equal emphasis on both "laugh" and "riot." Focusing on pranks vs. corporations and government institutions. If George W. Bush makes you puke and you dig pie fights with cops, riot footage, and culture jamming, you'll love the punk rock urgency of the Lost Film Fest and its celebration of illegal art. You've seen the US-centric Fahrenheit 911, now it's time to check out something that's more global in scope. Lost Film Fest from West Philadelphia is a traveling multimedia spectacle incorporating live performance and video. It's a truly independent, anti-authoritarian, anti-corporate grassrots DIY media extravaganza hosted by Festival Director Scott Beibin (Bloodlink Records, Evil Twin Booking.) Beibin travels the globe telling stories and spinning movies like a DJ using a videoprojector, dvd player, and backpack filled with goodies. The roadshow incorporates a sexy, smash-it-up, radical anti-capitalist anti-globalization perspective. Truly "Too Hot for TV" since 1999, the LFF has featured scathing and hilarious social commentary in the form of narrative shorts, documented pranks, hot amateur protest footage, and video re-mixes. Additionally there is an annual weeklong event held in Philly, and guerilla visits to Sundance, SXSW, and Cannes. This jam is about smashing the illusions cast by Hollywood, the Pentagon, and FOX News. Yeah!

We've been getting overwhelmed by requests to respond to rumors about an impending Hot Wax party. All I can say officially at this point is keep an eye out for more details. Those watching the program will likely be given detailed priority information before the rest of the general public is given a clue. That's all I can say for now. You know who you are. Tune in to find out what it will get you.

Rabbit in the Moon coming to Hot Wax in 2005!

At the end of the summer, the world-famous electronica stage show Rabbit in the Moon came to Chicago as the headline act at

at the Congress Theater on Chicago's North Side. The show was put on by Flavour Chicago and Hot Wax was there. The music was pounding in three separate rooms featuring national as well as local artists. Also appearing on this special coverage: DJ Terry Mullan, cutting-edge electronica band Grayarea and the crafty cut magic of DJ Swamp! Move over Ginsu, Swamp's slicing and dicing analogue wax like no other. This is one Hot Wax Special you don't want to miss! Rabbit in the Moon put on a stellar performance of sight and sound, driving the audience to a frenzy by the time they finished.
